Dr. Qi Chen

Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Peking University
Qi Chen

Qi Chen was a posdoctoral scholar (2011-2012) and PhD student (2005-2011), with a thesis titled, "Formation of Biogenic Secondary Organic Aerosol." She earned a BS degree from Nankai University and an MS degree from Peking University, all in Environmental Sciences. She held a NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship. At Harvard, "I was involved in the study of SOA formation over a range of atmospherically relevant conditions in the Harvard Environmental Chamber. Gas precursors include alpha-pinene, isoprene, and beta-caryophyllene. Moreover, nearly pure biogenic SOA particles were investigated by conducting a field measurement (AMAZE-08) in the Amazon forest during the wet season. By comparing the laboratory results with ambient measurements, I am on the way to learn more about the SOA sources, formation, and mechanisms." She continued as a postdoctoral scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Currently, Dr. Chen is an Assistant Professor at College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Peking University.
